About the project

Code Unnati

Launched in 2020, the project aims to improve capacity and enhance access to entrepreneurship and employment opportunities for youth and women. Across the two target groups, the project works towards increased awareness, enhancing employability, 21st century and entrepreneurship skills, facilitation of linkages, mentorship support and nurturing the innovation potential, in both rural and urban areas.

Objectives

Promotion of Rural Women-owned Microenterprises:

  1. Capacity building of women as a part of SHGs/aspiring and existing entrepreneurs/MSMEs
  2. Development of a pool of community-based women mentors called ‘Unnati Sakhis’
  3. Entrepreneurship Awareness and Development Programme and Digital skills
  4. Mentoring and handholding support to women to start/scale Micro-/Nano-Enterprises

Youth, especially girls are better equipped to make informed career choices and capable to access income generation:

  1. Career Guidance & Counselling
  2. Training on 21st Century Skills & Digital Skills
  3. Entrepreneurship Skills
  4. Linkages to Apprenticeship/ Internship
  5. Innovation Challenges / Boot Camps
  6. Digital Skills Championships and Scholarships
  7. Corporate Volunteering to support youth and women

Improved institutional ecosystem] section:

  1. Training of Faculty in schools and colleges to mentor youth

Achievements

  1. Project Orientation Programme conducted for 1507 women across the three districts to undergo Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme, Entrepreneurship Development Programme, & Unnati Sakhi Training
  2. Project Orientation Programme conducted for 2001 youth across 50 institutions in the three project locations to undergo Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme, & Entrepreneurship Development Programme
  3. Entrepreneurship Awareness Programmes conducted for 357 women across the three districts under the project, interested participants were registered for Entrepreneurship Development Programme, & Unnati Sakhi Training
  4. Guest Lecture on “National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme” was conducted for 90 youth in Raichur, chaired by Mr. Venkatesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner
  5. The project team identified 99 women entrepreneurs associated with local farm and non-farm self-help groups (SHG) engaged in floriculture, poultry, tailoring, embroidery, wicker and basket making, handicrafts, coconut oil, marine products processing including oyster farming, handicrafts, etc. to be considered under Project Code Unnati for capacity building, upscaling, market linkages and linkages to digital market through the SHG e-Marketplace portal
  6. Project Orientation & Collaboration meetings were held with Dr. Rajendra. K. V, Deputy Commissioner & Dr. Selvamani. R, Chief Executive Officer -Zilla Panchayat of Dakshina Kannada, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Rural Self Employment Training Institutes, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences   & National Rural Livelihood Mission
